Historical Sport Event API

Diagram showing the Historical Data API layers: seasons, competitions, matches, and players feeding analytics and archives.

Not every workflow starts with a live event board. The Historical Sport Event API gives you access to the catalog side of the ALT Sports Data platform -- competitions, matches, seasons, and player data that stretch back across the history of each sport on the platform.

What it covers

  • Competitions -- Browse and query the full competition catalog, including league structures, divisions, and tournament formats.
  • Matches -- Access completed match records with results, scores, and event-level metadata.
  • Seasons -- Navigate season-level structures to understand how competitions are organized over time.
  • Players -- Look up player profiles and supporting metadata tied to historical participation.

Common use cases

  • Archive pages -- Build searchable result histories and past-season browsers for your sportsbook or media product.
  • Analytics pipelines -- Feed historical match and competition data into models, backfills, and trend analysis.
  • Result reconciliation -- Compare platform results against your internal settlement records to catch discrepancies.
  • Media and content products -- Power editorial features, stat widgets, and league landing pages that go beyond just upcoming events.
